The Lakeville South baseball team got a big boost of confidence by defeating Eastview twice in a doubleheader May 3.

The rookie program defeated Eastview 5-4 and 6-3.

In the 5-4 win, Donovan Sullivan got the win and Nick Daniels got a key home run.

In the second game, Alex Messek got the win and Nick Wald got a key home run.

Run production had been a problem for South. The team had scored 28 runs prior to Eastview games, but they scored more than a third of that total in those two games.

Lakeville South won its second game of the year 11-10 over Bloomington Kennedy on April 26.

The team was competitive against Burnsville on April 27 and Rosemount on May 2 but couldn't pull off any wins.
North baseball

The Lakeville North baseball team was on a six-game win streak before two schools from Apple Valley and Bloomington Jefferson got in the way.

The team was a bit disappointed May 3 against Jefferson.

Hoping for a break after losing to both Eastview and Apple Valley in the two games prior, North wanted to get back on a winning streak.

North had plenty of chances. They had runners on second and third in the final inning, but couldn't get one home.

And the team was up 3-2 but a fielder lost the ball in the lights and the game got away from North fast.

"Two outs and we walk a guy, hit a guy, it's twilight and we can't see it,î coach Tony Market said. "It's one of those things in baseball you can't control everything.î

Nick Judkins was big at the plate going 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Luke Reardon led the team going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Mike Kvasnicka got the loss allowing four earned runs off four hits, one walk and one hit batter in one inning. He also went 0-for-3 at the plate.

Kvasnicka had an uncharacteristic bad outing.

He leads the team in batting average hitting .575. He has seven doubles and four home runs this year.

"He's having a great start of the year,î Market said. "It's the second time around in the Lake Conference now that the word is out. They're pitching him to him differently.î

North lost to both Eastview on April 26 and Apple Valley on May 2 to close out the team's first round through the Lake Conference.

The team was shut out by Apple Valley 2-0 and couldn't get enough runs against Eastview losing 4-2.

"We're right there in all of our games, we're trying to figure out how to win the close games,î Market said.

Against Eastview, Evan Lucius got the loss allowing six hits and three runs in 4.2 innings.

The team's next game is May 8 against Burnsville.

"I wish we could play one more game this week, but that's were we're at,î Market said.
