Eastview pitcher will play softball for the Gophers

Briana Hassett has verbally committed to the University of Minnesota fastpitch softball program.Ý She will officially sign her National Letter of Intent during the early signing period beginning Nov. 10 and ending Nov. 17.
Hassett will be a senior pitcher for the Lightning this spring. ÝShe is a four-year letter winner and starter for the Lightning that won the MSHSL Class AAA state championship in 2003 and Lake Conference championship in 2002 and 2003.ÝÝ
She has set the school record in strikeouts (267) and no-hitters (5).Ý During the 2004 season, she did not allow more than two runs (earned or unearned) in any of the 25 games played.Ý She had a 0.46 ERA. ÝShe has been recognized as All-Lake Conference, All-Section 6AAA and First Team All-State.Ý She is also a Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-American (1 of 13 underclassmen pitchers in the country).
A talented two-sport athlete, Hassett also competes on the Lake Conference championship basketball team at Eastview where she led the team in scoring and rebounding.ÝÝ
She was a member of the team that played for the MSHSL Class AAAA state championship in 2003.Ý She was also recognized as an All-Lake Conference player for the 2003-2004 season.
Hassett is an outstanding student as well, earning a 3.86 grade-point average with a schedule including Advanced Placement and honors courses.Ý She plans to major in business marketing.

Hassettís parents are Paul and Tere Hassett of Eagan.
