After a series of 1-0 games, the Burnsville softball team has gotten a couple of easy victories.

The Blaze swept the Bloomington schools this week by defeating Jefferson 4-0 and Kennedy 10-0.

ìThe last two games have been nice,î co-head coach Terry Hunst said. ìThese are games we should win. Weíre just proud of the girls, weíre proud of the fact that they took care of business. We didnít mess around and came out and played our style of softball.î

Against Kennedy, the Blaze needed only five innings to defeat them as they beat them with the ì10-run ruleî with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Right from the beginning, Burnsville took it right to Kennedy and didnít let up on them until the game was over.

The Blaze started the first inning with a walk and two hits from its first three hitters.

Bridget Johnson scored on a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead and then Lauren Wester drove in Michelle Steenholdt for a 2-0 lead.

ìWe wanted to get that first run, break the ice and go from there,î Hunst said.

After Kennedy went down 1-2-3, Burnsville answered with three more runs.

The big blow came on a double from Steenholdt as she drove in two runs with that hit.

Steenholdt would score when Shannon Stemper would get caught in a rundown.

The Blaze added two more in the third on runs by Rachel Steenholdt and Brittany Mosey.

Burnsville failed to score but finished the game off with three runs in the fifth.

Mosey drove in the winning run with a fielderís choice.

Burnsville pitcher Allison Cozad got the victory, giving up only one hit in the game.

The Blaze are now 7-3 in the Lake Conference, one game behind Lakeville.
Eden Prairie 11, Apple Valley 1

Eden Prairie scored early and late to get an easy win over Apple Valley.

Eden Prairie scored five runs in the first three innings and six in the final two innings to get a 11-1 win over the Eagles.

Apple Valleyís lone run came in the first inning and gave them a 1-0 lead.

But Eden Prairie answered with three runs in the first and two more in the third for a 5-1 lead.

Both teams settled down but in the fifth inning, Eden Prairie exploded for five runs to break the game wide open.

Eden Prairie scored a run in the sixth to get the 11-1 victory.
Eagan 2,
Chaska 1

The Eagan Wildcats softball team scored late to get a hard fought victory over Chaska.

The Wildcats scored the winning run in the sixth inning to take a 2-1 lead. That lead would stand and Eagan would win 2-1.

The win pushes Eaganís record to 5-3 in the Lake Conference.

Eagan took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Chaska answered back in the bottom of the second to tie the game at 1-1.

Eagan broke the tie in the sixth and pitcher Katie Wenzel made the lead stand up.
