Dakota County Government Center gets bomb threat

Dakota County government offices in Hastings were briefly closed March 4 due to a bomb threat.
A female caller told staff in the county attorneyís office at about 9:30 a.m. there was a bomb in one of the buildings at the government center.
Staff were immediately evacuated and the buildings were searched with the aid of explosive-detection dogs from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Police and the Ramsey County Sheriffís Office.
No explosive devices were found.
All buildings were cleared and re-opened for business by noon.
The Hastings campus includes the county attorneyís office, the county sheriffís office, courts, the Juvenile Service Center and Dakota County administrative offices, where about 600 county employees work.
The bomb threat had no effect on business operations in Dakota Countyís Western Service Center in Apple Valley or the Northern Service Center in West St. Paul.
The caller did not identify herself. Staff from the Dakota County Sheriffís Office and the Hastings Police Department are investigating the incident.
