A sketch plan for 216 single-family lots on 142 acres next to the second high school site was approved by the Lakeville City Council at its Jan. 5 regular meeting.

Two types of houses are planned to be constructed in the Chadwick Farm development with prices ranging from under $300,000 to $400,000, according to Mike Suel with D.R. Horton Homes, the developer of the project.

The property is currently zoned in several different ways, and the developers are proposing rezoning several areas from single and two family residential to all RS-3 single family residential.

The property is also in the 2010 Municipal Urban Service Area (MUSA) so it also needs to be brought into the current MUSA before it could be developed, according to a presentation by Associate Planner Allyn Kuennen.

By bringing the property into the current MUSA, it will allow for full utilization of infrastructure required to provide gravity sanitary sewer service to the new high school currently under construction.

The property is bordered on the west by the new high school site, on the south by County Road 70, on the east by Wild Meadows Villas and on the north by single family housing.
