Eastview

The Eastview Lightning girlsí golf team was edged by Eden Prairie in a nine-hole meet at Valleywood.

Eastview shot a good score of 175, but Eden Prairie bettered it by four strokes and finished with 171.

Eastviewís Katie Detlefson earned medalist honors with her score of 38. She shared the honor with Eden Prairieís Chrissy McCardell.

Detlefsen good score includes getting birdies on holes three and five.

The 175 score wasnít possible unless the other Eastview golfers also played well. Sarah Huhner shot a 44, which included birdies on holes three and nine.

Following her was Katie Bilgrienís 45 and Claire Thielmanís 48.

Farmington
coed

The Eastview Lightning have the best combination of girls and boys golfers.

At least that was the case at the Farmington coed golf tournament.

In a unique tournament where girls and boys compete together, the Eastview Lightning team shot 151 to edge out Lakevilleís 159.

The best-ball format led to Eastviewís team of Katie Detlefsen and Johnny Greene teaming up to win medalist honors with a score of 75.

Farmington finished third in its own tournament with a score of 160.

Farmington

With two Missota Conference meets left, the Farmington girlsí golf team is in sixth place.

They are in sixth place after shooting 222 in a Missota Conference meet at Mississippi National.

The 222 was good enough for seventh place in the round. The Tigers only beat Prior Lake, which shot 225.

The Tigersí Krista Cordes had the low round of the day for Farmington as she fired a 48.

Erin Lamberty was next for Farmington as she shot a 55. Erika Brown was third with a 58.

Rounding out the scores for Farmington was Steph Schmitz with 61, Lindsey Markuson with 62 and Betsy Thraen with 63.

Head coach Terry Holmes said the teamís putting is getting better, but that they need to work on getting off the tee better and having better approach shots.

Apple Valley

Despite finishing last in its golf meet against Eastview and Eden Prairie, the Apple Valley girlsí golf team reached its goal.

The goal for the Eagles is to shoot 200 or lower in each meet.

The Eagles met that goal by shooting a 200 at Valleywood in a nine-hole match.

Eden Prairie won the match with 171 and Eastview finished second with 175.

Even with reaching their goal, it wasnít the best day for the Eagles as they have played better in the past.

ìOur team did not play our best meet of the year,î head coach John Christiansen said. ìOverall, I think as a team we could have shot better. But we all have our ups and downs. This was a meet that as a team we didnít all shoot our best.î

Another positive for the Eagles was the play of Steph Leach. She fired her low round of the year by shooting 43. Teammate Jenna Quam had the next best finish by an Eagle when she fired 46.

Lauren Shoemaker shot 54, Nicole Buehrer 57, Jess Ptachik 59 and Brittney Nielsen shot 58 in her first varsity match to round out the Eagle scores.

Burnsville

The Burnsville Blaze girlsí golf team just keeps rolling along.

They won their most recent golf meet against Rosemount and Lakeville behind a strong, consistent effort by the whole team.

The Blaze shot 166 to beat Lakevilleís 185 and Rosemountís 198.

Junior Lauren Huhnerkoch continued her stellar play by shooting 38 for medalist honors.

It is Huhnerkochís fourth-straight medalist round.

ìLaurenís been real steady,î head coach Alan VanWyngarden said.

But the team would not have won if not for solid efforts behind Huhnerkoch.

Michelle Reiners finished with 42, Christie Anderson and Brooke Carney shot a pair of 43s and Kate Nelson shot 45. Brittany Mackley shot 51.

ìIím real pleased with all the kids,î VanWyngarden said. ìMichelle is starting to put some consistent rounds together which is real good.î
