Christian Life School will welcome Darin Kindle as the new administrator beginning in July. Kindle will replace Lori Frey, who is retiring after 17 years at the schoolís helm.

Kindle comes to the Farmington school from Good Hope Christian School in Milwaukee where he has been the director for five years. Like Christian Life, Good Hope School is a mission of a church.

Kent Boyum, senior pastor at Christian Life Church, has known Kindle since they attended North Central University in Minneapolis together. After graduation, the two have continued to work together in various ministries, Boyum said.

Boyumís knowledge of Kindle as a person, along with Kindleís track record as a Christian school administrator, led to his selection as a candidate for the position.

ìWe were looking at people we know,î Boyum said about the hiring process, ìand we just thought he would be a great fit for this community.î

Boyum said the church was looking for someone who could combine school-administration skills with ìa pastorís heart.î

ìWe found an excellent combination,î he said.

Kindle said he was attracted to Christian Life, in part, because of the schoolís potential for future growth and effectiveness in the community. In Milwaukee, he oversaw a school where enrollment more than tripled during his tenure.

But Kindle said he sees his job as more than just expanding the reach of Christian Life. He also needs to focus on each individual student, he said.

ìAt any school, part of the goal is to have high academic achievement,î he said. ìBut at a Christian school, the mission also focuses on developing a studentís character and relationship with Jesus Christ.î

Kindle added that part of the challenge of running a Christian school is keeping that mission focused. The goal is to help children become beneficial members of the church and of the community, he said.

Though Kindle will not officially assume the administrator position until July, he and his family will be moving to the area before that to ease the transition.
